Ten days in the two regions Italians save for themselves. We taste with the winemakers rather than the tasting-room staff, eat where the Michelin stars and the grandmothers overlap, and finish under the Alps in the Aosta Valley.

Day by Day
10 days, 9 nights. Every day has an anchor and an escape hatch — nothing here is compulsory.
Transfers from Turin airport, easy evening, welcome dinner in a historic café that has been serving since 1763.
Morning market walk and a chocolate tasting, afternoon free, evening aperitivo the way Turin invented it.
Drive south into the hills to our base near Alba. Afternoon at a small Barbaresco estate with the winemaker.
The classic communes — La Morra, Monforte, Serralunga — with two cellar visits and lunch between them.
Out with a truffle hunter and his dog in the morning, hand-rolled tajarin in the afternoon, dinner is what we made.
Nothing planned. Market, spa, bicycle, or a nap — all defensible choices.
Scenic drive up under Monte Rosa, stopping at a mountain-side vineyard that grows on terraces you can barely stand on.
Fénis castle, a cheese cellar carved into the mountain, and a long lunch of polenta and everything that belongs on it.
Cable car to the glacier viewpoint if weather allows, afternoon in the village, farewell dinner in an old alpine rascard.
Transfers to Turin or Milan Malpensa. Geneva also works — ask us.
